Some of you will be blissful and feel in love with motherhood and being a mom. You feel like there is nothing more you love doing. I am so happy for you. I am thrilled that you have found your purpose and I hope your love of mothering always fills your soul.
Some of you wanted to be a mom more than anything. You played with dolls and imagined getting married and having babies. Now that you are a mom there are days that you question your abilities. Question whether you are good enough, know enough or have enough love to go around. Back when you were “mom” to your dolls, it was easy, but living breathing humans are SOOOO much harder to care for.
Being a mom can feel like you are constantly walking a tightrope….. in a wind storm. It can be thrilling, yet you are always holding your breath just waiting to be knocked over into the abyss below.
There is always something that we are questioning.
Are they eating enough? Is it healthy enough? Do they have friends? Are they a good friend? Am I giving them enough attention or too much? Do they know they are loved, strong and smart? Will they be hard working? Will they be ok? ________fill in the fear that pulls at your heartstrings and raises your cortisol.
These fears and doubts are like a song on repeat….but the song is by Shaggy and it is FREAKING torture.
I am not writing this to tell you what you already know.
I am writing this to let you know that you are not alone and that there is a way to parent from a place of trust, of confidence and LOVE. Mothering from this place, there are still fears and doubts, but instead of being knocked off the tightrope….you grow wings.
Step One-Breath In. Breathe Out. Find a quiet space for 10 minutes
Step Two-Listen to This Meditation
Step Three-Open your heart of the frequency of love and trust that the universe has your (and your children’s) back. Remember to come home to this anytime you need it.
