What's the Difference Between Jen and a Watermelon?

A watermelon floats.  Hahaha

This is just one of the jokes that my classmates would make about me when I was a kid.

This was me when I was 10.  I found this picture a few days ago and so many memories came flooding back.

I loved to dance (but stopped because my teacher told me I was fat and wouldn’t fit in the costume)

I was smart and did well in school (but never pushed myself out of my comfort zone)

I was sweet (most of the time)

I was a good kid and I let the opinions of other 10-year-old kids to define my beliefs about myself.

Have you ever had an experience where you let someone else decide your worth?

A time when you decided that what someone else thought about you mattered more than what YOU thought?

I would be shocked to hear if you haven’t.

We all have an innate drive to fit in and be loved/accepted.  If we didn’t have a tribe when we were cave (wo)men WE DIED.  We couldn’t survive on our own.

How does this translate into your life today?

Maybe you don’t speak your mind.

Maybe you don’t charge what your worth or ask for the raise that you deserve.

Maybe you don’t show your authentic self because of what people might think about you.

I get it.

I struggle with my self-worth pretty much every day.  I am also choosing to take baby steps to remember that I am worthy.  That my time is valuable, and I deserve to be paid well.  To remember that I am pretty special (no matter what other people think).

One of the best tools for confronting your issues with self-worth is using EFT.

Here is a quick video on how to do it.

If you found EFT helpful and are looking to work on your self-worth (and other resiliency keys) in a community of other amazing women I want to invite you to check out Thriving Mama Society.  We are a group of imperfect mothers who are slightly burned out or anxious, but who are committed to becoming more resilient and THRIVING.

P.S.  I don’t want to pressure you but you should know that membership closes on July 27th and won’t open until November.
